History of World Food Day
The world day is celebrated every year from 1979, the campaign was started by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and its members. The food day is celebrated in the whole world to raise awareness about hunger, and inspire people for a better place for hunger deprived people. The world food day is celebrated every year in over 150 countries, and serves as a reminder of the need for food security and collectively eradicating food hunger.
The world food day was designed by the FAO during the 20th general conference of November 1979. 16th October 1981 was the first time when the world food day was celebrated for the first time in the world.

- Around 45% child deaths are due to malnutrition, and stunting.
- As per the FAO report, over 820 million people suffered from chronic malnutrition or undernutrition in 2018.
