The authorities at the Staff Selection Commission have finally released the official SSC CGL Notification 2024 for 17727 vacancies on its official website. The Tier 1 Exam is scheduled to be held in September – October 2024 and the Tier 2 Exam in December 2024. The candidates willing to appear for the exam should start their preparation as soon as possible. Subjects Asked in the SSC CGL Exam and Their Weightage

The SSC CGL Recruitment process consists of two stages and the weightage for the subjects asked differs for the two stages. Since the latest change in the exam pattern, the sections of the Tier 2 exam have undergone a significant change. Let us look at the subject-wise weightage for each stage of the selection process in the sections below.

Tier 1

The first stage of the selection process of SSC CGL 2024 i.e. the Tier 1 Exam consists of 100 questions worth 200 marks distributed equally among four sections. These sections are General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. In this stage, the weightage of each subject is equal and the exam is qualifying in nature. The subject-wise weightage of each section in the Tier 1 Exam is as follows.

Hence the weightage of each section of the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam is 25 percent. The candidates should give equal importance to all four sections as each question carries 2 marks and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks applicable across all sections.

Tier 2

The candidates who will qualify for the category-wise cutoff for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will proceed to the Tier 2 stage. The SSC CGL Tier 2 Paper 1 consists of three sections with two modules each out of these the first two sections are scoring and the third one is qualifying. Section I contains questions on Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning & General Intelligence. Section II contains questions on English Language & Comprehension and General Awareness.

The SSC CGL exam is a long process and is conducted over a period of six to nine months.
