The SSC GD Constable Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is an important stage in the selection process for aspiring constables. Staff Selection Commission conducts a computer-based written examination as the initial stage and candidates qualifying for the Written test will be eligible for the next stage of the selection process i.e. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) followed by Document Verification or Medical Examination. The commission will conduct the CBT in January-February 2024. Candidates must be anxious to understand the detailed process of PET and PST.

It’s a challenging test that requires a combination of strength, speed, and stamina. The exact standards can vary slightly from year to year. The PET includes Running. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The candidate must be efficient enough to finish the race within the time limit as mentioned in the below table. The limit has been set differently for candidates of the Ladakh region.

Physical Standard Test (PST)
The candidates will be examined for physical standards including Height and Chest (only males). Only the candidates who meet the requirements will be called for a medical examination.

However, there is some relaxation provided for candidates belonging to hilly areas, scheduled tribes, northeastern states, Left Wing Extremism affected districts, and Gorkha Territorial Administration. Chest measurement for female candidates has not been included in the Physical Standard Test, however, the chest should be well developed.
