What are the Changes in SSC CGL 2024 Exam?

The Staff Selection Commission has released the SSC CGL Notification 2024 on its official website ssc.gov.in. The commission has declared a total of 17727 vacancies in various Group B and Group C posts across different government departments and offices. The candidates who satisfy the educational qualification and the age limit criteria of the mentioned posts can submit their duly filled online applications by 24th July 2024.

Changes in the SSC CGL 2024 Exam

The commission releases the official notification for SSC CGL containing all the important on an annual basis. However, the CGL notification for 2024 has some changes when compared to the previous years. It is of utmost importance that the candidates should be aware of these changes before starting the online application process. The changes introduced by SSC in the SSC CGL Notification 2024 are mentioned below.

1. Instructions Regarding Uploading Photograph in the Application Form

The Staff Selection Commission has made a significant change regarding the process of uploading the photograph of candidates while applying for SSC CGL 2024. It has been made explicitly clear that the candidates are required to submit a photograph captured at the time of filling out the application form, the facility for which will be provided in the online application module. The official notification states that:

For applying, the candidate is not required to have a pre-existing photograph of himself/herself. The application module has been designed to capture a photograph of the candidate filling up the application form. For this purpose, the candidate has to stand/sit before the camera when prompted by the application module.

2. AAO Post Not Included in the Official Notification

In one of the most surprising moves by the commission, the post of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer has not been mentioned in the official SSC CGL Notification 2024.  It means that the Group B (Gazetted) posts, Pay Level 8, of AAO in C&AG have not been included in the recruitment process. The commission may provide more clarity regarding these posts in the detailed SSC CGL Vacancy 2024 which will be released in due course.

3. Changes in the SSC CGL Exam Pattern

As there is no mention of the AAO post in the detailed notification, the candidates should also be aware that Paper III  of the Tier 2 Exam named General Studies (Finance & Economics) will not be conducted in the SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam 2024. The commission will provide further communication regarding the AAO posts in due course on its official website.
