UPPSC candidates protested in Prayagraj on November 11, 2024, at Muir Hall crossing in Sangam City against the exams scheduled for PCS-2024 and RO/ARO 2023. The candidates were protesting against the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission’s decision to conduct the PCS prelims examination and RO/ARO Exams in two days. Candidates also opposed the normalization formula or method imposed by the commission on the answer sheet evaluation.
Thousand of candidates were protesting against these two major issues faced by them for the biggest examination conducted by UPPSC annually. Candidates started gathering at Muir Hall in the morning and as the hour passed the number of protesters increased. Initially, students were calm and controlled and tried to share their issues with the police personnel, as the number of students increased the protest and students turned out aggressive regarding their demands.
The protesters were demanding of single shift for the exam on this same day. As per the reports, the candidates have broken the barricades and reached the commission office, The Police department was continuously using force to stop the protesters but they were too aggressive.
UPPSC has announced the new exam dates, after which students turned out aggressive. Candidates are demanding that the exam should be held in two days with multiple shifts.
PCS 2024 preliminary exam and RO/ARO 2023 exams of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission are to be held in December. Out of these, the PCS pre-exam is scheduled to be conducted on December 7 and 8. These exams will be conducted in 41 districts. The PCS Pre exam will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the second session exam will be held from 2:30 pm. The preliminary exam of RO/ARO will be held on December 22 and 23. The first shift exam will be held from 9 am to noon and the second shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates however are opposing the two days of the exam and demand it be conducted in one day, in one shift.
After all this, the Head of the Commission issued a statement and said that candidates must not wait for any change or amendment as the exam schedule is not going to change in any situation. Candidates must not waste their time and prepare for the scheduled exam in December 2024. They are not circulating any news regarding this on any kind of social platform as well.
