SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024 for Tier 1 and Tier 2

The office of the Staff Selection Commission has released the official SSC CGL 2024 Notification on the official website and will be accepting online application forms till 24th July 2024. The selection process for the 17727 vacancies announced for the various Group B and Group C posts in government departments will be carried out in two stages i.e. Tier 1 and Tier 2. The commission has excluded the AAO post from the recruitment process and thus the pattern for the SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam has been updated.

The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam will be conducted in September-October 2024 and the Tier 2 Exam is scheduled to be conducted in December 2024. Candidates who meet the requirements of stage 1 will be promoted to stage 2 of the examination. Aspiring candidates must understand the detailed exam pattern which includes subjects, the number of questions in each section, and the exam duration. Candidates must note that the SSC CGL Tier 1 is qualifying in nature and compulsory for all posts and Tier 2 is scoring in nature.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024

The SSC CGL 2024 Tier-1 exam will be conducted online and composed of 4 sections with a maximum mark of 200. The SSC CGL Tier-2 exam will be conducted in 2 phases – Paper 1 & Paper 2. Candidates must go through the updated Tier-wise exam pattern mentioned below.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

SSC will hold a computer-based examination with 100 multiple-choice questions. There are 4 sections in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CGL, with 100 questions that account for 200 marks. The subject-wise SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024 details are given below:

The sections asked in the SSC CGL Tier-I Exam are:

There is a negative marking of 0.50 Marks for each wrong answer. There is no sectional cut-off. No mark will be deducted if the question is left blank or unattempted by a candidate.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2024

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the CGL exam in two distinct phases: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper I is mandatory for all candidates, providing a comprehensive assessment for various posts. Paper II, on the other hand, is exclusive to candidates applying for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) positions in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

  • Tier 2 includes 2 papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II further in separate shifts on separate days.
  • The Data Entry Speed Test has been included in Section III of Paper 1 for 15 minutes in Module II as a Data Entry Task.

Candidates must recognize the tailored nature of these papers based on their applied positions. Additionally, candidates should be mindful of the negative marking system, with a deduction of 1 mark for each incorrect answer in Paper I, and 0.50 marks for each incorrect response in Paper II.

The candidates who clear the Tier 1 Cutoff will be eligible to appear for the Tier 2 Exam. The paper 1 of this stage of the selection process will consist of three sections each containing two modules. The Section I and Section II will be scoring and the Section II will be qualifying in nature.
