Section-Wise Preparation Strategy for RRB NTPC 2024 Exam

The notification for the RRB NTPC examination has been released for 11,558 posts, open to both graduate and undergraduate candidates. However, The syllabus for both categories is the same, consisting of three sections: General Awareness, Arithmetic, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. Candidates who start their preparation early will be in a better position to qualify for the exam. To assist candidates, we are providing a section-wise preparation strategy for the RRB NTPC exam in this article. By following this strategy, candidates can boost their scores effectively.

Section-Wise Preparation Strategy for RRB NTPC Examination

The RRB NTPC examination consists of two stages of Computer-Based Tests (CBT 1 and CBT 2). In CBT 1, a total of 100 questions are asked, with 40 questions from the General Awareness section and 30 questions each from the Reasoning and Arithmetic sections. In CBT 2, there are 120 questions in total, comprising 50 questions from General Awareness, and 35 questions each from Arithmetic and Reasoning. The duration for both CBTs is 90 minutes.

General Awareness: This section has the highest weightage in the exams. Out of 100 questions, 40 questions are asked from General Awareness in CBT 1, and 50 questions out of 120 are asked in CBT 2. So, prepare this section as a priority.

• Prepare short, handwritten notes for every topic given in the syllabus. It will help you in faster revision of topics during exam times.
• Maintain a diary for current affairs and update it daily. Revise the previous information before adding any new information.
• The Science section has significant weightage in the RRB NTPC examination, with approximately 7-8 questions asked from this section. Prepare a list of important topics from previous year papers and revise it weekly.
• For static subjects like History, Geography, and Polity, refer to standard books and make short, handwritten notes for important topics. Revise them regularly.
• Remember, revision is the key to scoring well in this section.

Arithmetic: To score well in this section, a candidate must complete the syllabus once and practice previous year questions from each topic. Try to solve questions from other examinations like SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, RPF SI, and Constable.

• Focus more on topics like Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportions, Percentage, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, and Data Interpretation. Because topic from arithmetic section has more weightage as compared to advance Maths.
• Develop speed for calculation, try to memorize formulae, cubes, and squares for faster calculation. Use concepts like digital sum and approximation for option elimination.
• Consistent practice and a strong conceptual understanding are the keys to success in the Mathematics Section.

General Intelligence & Reasoning: It is the most scoring section of the RRB NTPC exams, having equal weightage as Mathematics. To ace this section, it is important to focus on the following:

• Try to solve Number Series, Alphabetical Series, Course of Action, Statement and Conclusion, and Statement and Assumption. These topics are more challenging and demand regular practice to master. Try solving a wide range of questions from these areas to improve your performance.
• Practice 2 sectional mock daily, it will improve your speed and accuracy.
• Revise topics in which you are facing problem and try to solve 50+ question of that topic only.

General Tips for RRB NTPC Exam

Apart from the section wise preparation strategy, candidates should also include these tips in their preparation schedule to get maximum benefit out of it.

Create a Structured Study Plan: Develop a comprehensive study plan that covers all the subjects. The Computer-based Test is expected to take place in December-January. Dedicate at least 5-6 hours daily to your preparation and be consistent. The General Awareness section has the highest weightage and vast syllabus, so devote 2-3 hours daily for this section. Plan accordingly based on your strength and weakness.

Analyze Previous Year Papers: By analyzing previous year question papers, you can identify the most important topics that frequently occur in the exam. Try to complete those topics on priority, and attempting RRB NTPC mock tests will help you improve your time management skills.

Practice Mock Tests: Attempt mock tests regularly to get familiarized with the exam environment. Attempting mock tests will help you solve questions within the stipulated time, which is much needed for exams like RRB NTPC.
