The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the RRB Group D Exam to fill up vacancies for the posts like Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), and level-I positions in other departments. RRB Group D salary 2024 is an important aspect before appearing for the exam.

RRB Group D Salary Structure 2024
The RRB Group D salary will be in Level 01 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with an initial pay of Rs.18000/- plus other allowances admissible at that time. After adding perks & emoluments, the overall Railway Group D Salary will be in the range of Rs.25,000-27,000/-. The total distribution of salary has been provided below.

RRB Group D Salary Perks & Allowances

RRB Group D Job Profile
Railway Group D is a basic railway job with one of the lowest pay but provides the candidates with key management and accountability skills. You will work as a track maintainer or assistant. Your work will involve maintenance of tracks, railway coaches, departments, stores etc.
The work will depend on the post you get. For Example, if you are posted in a Diesel locomotive, your work will involve taking care of the locomotives and so on. The following points give a clearer understanding of the job profile of candidates selected for the RRB Group D posts.

RRB Group D Posts and Promotion
The employees appointed under the Group D posts will be promoted based on internal departmental exams conducted at regular intervals for candidates to upgrade their positions. The candidates are eligible for the exam after every 3 years of regular service. Those who fail to qualify for the departmental examination on their first attempt can appear again. RRB Group D Career Growth
The candidates will be able to the internal promotions through the internal exams. After 3 years of regular service, the selected candidates at the Group D level become eligible to appear in the departmental exam for promotion to Group C level and reach the post of Superintendent or Section Engineer depending on the department.
RRB Group D Selection Process
The Group D posts are a great gateway for railway candidates to enter the service and make a career in due course of time. However, the candidates who are eligible and willing to appear for the Group D recruitment process should be aware of how they are to be selected for the vacancies across various departments to start their careers.
The candidates will be required to go through a three-stage process to be selected in the RRB Group D posts. The first stage will be the Computer Based Test and the candidates who qualify for the cutoff of this stage will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test and Document Verification.
