KPSC KAS Prelims 2024 Exam Pattern
Candidates preparing for the KPSC KAS Prelims Exam 2024 to be conducted on 5 May 2024, should note the KAS Exam Pattern carefully from the given important points:
- The KPSC KAS Prelims exam consists of 2 Papers.
- The KPSC Prelims exam will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode.
- Both the Papers will have multiple-choice objective questions (MCQs).
- Each of the questions carries 2 marks and a negative marking of 1/4 of the marks assigned to the question.
- Both the papers will be worth 200 marks each.
- The time given to solve each of these papers will be 2 hours.

KPSC KAS Prelims Paper 1 Syllabus
Paper 1 of the KPSC KAS Preliminary examination consists of two sections i.e. one of General Studies and the other of Humanities. As discussed in the exam pattern section this paper comprises 100 questions worth 200 marks to be attempted in 2 hours. Check the detailed syllabus for this paper below.

- Current events of National and International importance
Humanities:
- History of India: Emphasis shall be on a broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic, cultural and political aspects with a focus on the Indian national movement with special emphasis on Karnataka.
- World Geography and Geography of India with a focus on Karnataka.
- Indian polity and economy, including the country’s political system, rural development, planning and economic reforms in India- sustainable development, poverty alleviation, demographics, social sector initiatives, etc.
KPSC KAS Prelims Paper 2 Syllabus
Paper 2 of the KPSC KAS Preliminary examination consists of three sections i.e. Current Affairs, General Science and General Mental Ability. - Current events of State importance and important State Government Programmes.
- General Science Technology, Environment and Ecology: contemporary developments in science and technology and their implications including matters of everyday observations and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline general issues on Health, environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change that do not require subject specialization.
- General Mental Ability: Comprehension, Logical reasoning and Analytical ability, Decision making, problem-solving, Basic innumeracy (numbers and their relations, order of magnitude, etc.) and data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. (class X/SSLC level).
KPSC KAS Mains 2024 Exam Pattern
The KPSC KAS Mains Exam 2024 will be conducted for a total of 8 papers. In the two language papers, it is mandatory to qualify these papers with a minimum of 35% marks.
