Selection Process in BIS
As mentioned earlier, each post in the BIS Recruitment 2024 has a different selection process that includes 2-3 stages. The available positions include Assistant Director, ASO, PA, Stenographer, Technical Assistant (Lab), and others. For all posts, an online examination or Computer-Based Test (CBT) is mandatory. Assistant Director (Various Specializations)
The exam pattern for the online test for the positions of Assistant Director (Hindi), Assistant Director (Administration & Finance), and Assistant Director (Marketing & Consumer Affairs) is outlined below. Candidates must achieve a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the online examination to qualify for the next stage, which is the interview.

Assistant, Technical Assistant & Sr. Technician
The positions of Technical Assistant (Laboratory) and Assistant (Computer-Aided Design) are at the Graduate Level, while the Senior Technician post is at the Matriculate Level. Consequently, the difficulty level of the question papers will vary according to the post. The BIS will conduct an online exam for these three positions based on the following pattern:

ASO, PA, Steno, JSA, & SSA
Finally, for positions such as Assistant Section Officer (ASO), Personal Assistant (PA), Stenographer, Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA), and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), there will be a common online exam lasting 120 minutes. During this time, candidates will need to answer 150 questions, each worth 1 mark.

BIS Syllabus for All Other Posts
The common syllabus for BIS Recruitment 2024 consists of four subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness. This syllabus is similar to that of many major competitive exams, such as CGL and CHSL. Therefore, candidates applying for these posts can prepare for the BIS exam alongside their preparation for other exams.
The common BIS syllabus applies to all the posts discussed above, except for the following conditions:
- The General Awareness section is not applicable to Assistant Directors.
- The Quantitative Aptitude section is not applicable to Assistants, Technical Assistants, and Senior Technicians.
- For these posts, all four sections are mandatory: Assistant Section Officer (ASO), Personal Assistant (PA), Stenographer, Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA)
