The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for the Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE) 2024 for 17727 vacancies on ssc.gov.in. The recruitment will be conducted for various Group B and Group C posts across multiple government departments and ministries. This year SSC has made some changes in the selection process in comparison to previous years. This change is quite significant as it comes as an exemption of an important post from the recruitment. This will have an impact on the overall number of applicants and the competition level in SSC CGL 2024.
Which Post was Removed from SSC CGL 2024?
The commission surprised the candidates when it was observed that the post of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer has not been mentioned in the official SSC CGL Notification 2024. It means that the Group B (Gazetted) posts, Pay Level 8, of AAO in C&AG have not been included in the recruitment process. This is a very big change in the recruitment process and will produce many subsequent changes in the entire CGL cycle for 2024.
SSC CGL 2024 Exam Pattern Changed
The removal of the AAO post from SSC CGL 2024 has the most obvious impact on the exam pattern for the Tier 2 exam. The decision by the commission has resulted in the removal of the entire Paper III from the Tier 2 stage of the exam. Earlier, the cutoff list released for the Tier 1 exam used to have a separate cutoff for the AAO post and this cutoff mark would be higher than the other Group B posts. Now, with the latest changes, the paper for the General Studies (Finance and Economics) will not be conducted.

SSC CGL 2024 Updated Exam Pattern
As a result of the removal of the AAO post and Paper III from the Tier 2 exam, the SSC CGL Exam Pattern stays updated. With the Tier 1 exam scheduled to be conducted in September-October 2024, the candidates need to be aware of the exam pattern in order to begin their preparations as soon as possible.
